Caring for cotton: Keeping your nightwear clean and soft

There's no feeling quite like slipping into soft, crisp cotton wear after a long day. Whether it's a warm summer evening or a chilly winter night, cotton provides the perfect balance of comfort and softness.

If washed and looked after properly, cotton will retain its softness and comfort, but how exactly should it be cared for?

Wash white clothing together

As with most white clothing, cotton nightwear should only ever be washed with other white clothing. This prevents the risk of coloured items of clothing seeping into the white clothing and discolouring them.

Use soft detergent in a cool wash

The delicacy of cotton is what makes it so special, giving it comfortability and making it lightweight. This does, however, mean that it needs to be washed at a low temperature. All nightdresses, pyjamas and dressing gowns will have washing instructions on the label which will guide you on the temperature that your item should be washed at (this is usually 30 degrees).

Air dry whenever possible

Air drying - as opposed to tumble drying - is crucial to ensuring cotton keeps its softness and shape. Heat can cause cotton clothing to shrink and warp the fibres in your clothing.

If cared for, washed and dried properly, out 100% cotton nightwear will retain its softness and comfortability. Looking to treat yourself to a brand new nightdress? Browse our range of stunning cotton nightwear.
